ENTER BENITEZ

Napoli recently brought in former Chelsea and Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez to replace Walter Mazzarri, who departed for Inter Milan. The club finished second in the Italian Serie A last season and they are one of the favourites to win the title this time around. Napoli may have lost to the likes of Edinson Cavani, who has been an important part of the team over the last few years, but they have properly supported Benitez by bringing in several names in the last few weeks. Players from Real Madrid, Liverpool, and PSV have arrived at the club.

One of the star signings so far has been the Argentine ace Gonzalo Higuain, who has been signed for around £ 35 million. The 25-year-old has spent the last seven seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu and has scored more than 100 goals during this period. He is one of the best strikers in the world right now according to Benitez. This coupled with the presence of new names like Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon will help them do well in the coming season. As a result of the new arrivals, there is a lot of expectation from Napoli.

Benitez has obliged by saying that they are targeting to do well in the league and Champions League.

“If we talk about a squad, a club and the fans, then Napoli reminds me of Liverpool for the same passion it has for football. I don’t like watching the Champions League on TV, I want to be involved in those games. We’re going to work 100% to win every single game. The president wants to make this club and the squad even stronger. I’m very happy with the transfers – we’ve got some top international players, but the whole squad is going to be important if we are to win,” said Benitez.
